About The Position

The Paramedic works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse/Charge Nurse. The Emergency Department Paramedic performs a variety of basic and minimal-invasive patient care activities in caring for patients in the Emergency Department. Delivers direct patient care under the direction of the registered nurse. Responds to the demands of changing patient acuity in a positive, efficient manner. Practices quality service as evidenced through QI results and patient satisfaction. Performs minimally-invasive patient procedures. Completes quick registration. Facilitates the patient transport to the needed area, including assisting patients from vehicles as needed. Stocks adequate equipment and supplies needed for emergencies. Utilizes communication equipment include tracking board and/or radio as necessary. Distributes patient visitor cards as appropriate. Monitor visitors access. Visually scans and monitors waiting room patients to determine need for re-assessment and communicates changes to triage or otherwise available. Monitors cleanliness of waiting room and North entrance requests housekeeping services as needed. Document patient care using a computerized Clinical Documentation System.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
  • Valid Ohio paramedic license required.
  • Current CPR & ACLS certification required.
  • Attend a Non-Violent Crisis Intervention class within 6 months of employment.
  • Exerting up to 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible up to 10 pounds amount of force often.

Nice To Haves

  • PALS certification preferred.
  • One year Paramedic experience preferred.
