About The Position

Provides safe, efficient and effective inter-facility transport to a wide variety of ill and injured patients representing Conemaugh Health System.  Assumes responsibility and accountability for the treatment outcome of patients of all ages including the neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric populations as defined by the paramedic scope of practice through Department of Health Guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Completion of a PA state approved paramedic course with certificate
  • Current active field experience as an ALS Provider with active medical command status.
  • Current Pennsylvania EMT-P certification with active EMSVO endorsement
  • Current Pennsylvania driver’s license with excellent driving record and no restrictions
  • PALS, ACLS
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills relating to patient care
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills related to external facilities and DEM interface
  • Highly skilled field practitioner for all age groups – neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with interfacility transport program.
  • Neonatal resuscitation certification, PEPP, PHTLS/ITLS (or equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Provides pre-hospital advanced life support care during interfacility transport until patient care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility or post acute facility; maintains thorough patient care documentation.
  • Practices within his/her scope of practice as defined by PA Department of Health, Bureau of EMS.
  • Maintains competency in knowledge and psychomotor skills by participating in ongoing continuing education and clinical experiences.
  • Knowledgeable in use and routine maintenance of all equipment and supplies to assure readiness and immediate response for transport of patients to or from facility to facility.
  • Provides assistance within emergency department setting in accordance to scope of practice.
  • Maintains and completes all required licensure, certifications, continuing education, state and departmental requirements.
  • Serves as role model, educator, and clinical resource
  • Participates in orientation of new employees and students as assigned.
  • Acts as a liaison and communicates hospital and program mission, values and goals.
  • Maintains the values as associated with the Ideal Patient Experience and Commitments to Excellence.
  • All other responsibilities as assigned in accordance with qualifications.
