We are looking for a dynamic individual that will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of supportive nursing care under the direction of the departments medical and nursing directors. Under the direction of a health care practitioner, the Paramedic provides patient care within a defined scope of practice that includes patient care/observation, assessments, specified treatments and procedures, provision of environmental and personal safety, and effective communication. The Paramedic will also be responsible to collect pertinent data within their certification scope of responsibilities and report these clinical, psychosocial, etc., findings to the RN or ED medical provider and charts appropriately. Works in collaboration with RNs and Medical Providers to provide patient care to adult medical and trauma patients utilizing advanced skills and judgment. Paramedics will be responsible for ECG interpretation, IV therapy, assessments/reassessments, airway patency, medication administration per provider orders, and initiation of approved protocol orders and guidelines of patients in the ED setting. Always demonstrates Service Excellence. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Completion of an approved EMT-P program and current certification as a Paramedic in the state of Nevada
  • Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification.
  • Completion of basic arrhythmia (i.e., Healthstreams training module) or hospital-based EKG class within 90 days
  • Required- 2 years' experience as a Paramedic in a pre-hospital environment

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred- 1 year experience in a hospital setting as a paramedic/ED Tech

Responsibilities

  • Communicates effectively both verbally and non-verbally with Clinical Manager, physicians, co-workers and guests.
  • Ensures accurate data entry and adherence to department standards for communications. Including but not limited to: QPI; diligent care to ensure accurate patient identification, UHS email, Cerner Fusion/FirstNet, Forms on demand, TigerText
  • Accurately implements provider's orders: performs treatments according to accepted standards and department policies; reports effectiveness of treatments
  • Administers medications in accordance with the accepted standards and department polices and protocols. It is the paramedics responsibility to determine the 5 rights for each medication administration.
