Purpose: Provides care for and treats patients in medical office, as directed by Physician, Advanced Clinical Provider, Registered Nurse or supervising department manager, by performing the following duties

Requirements

  • Current EMT-P Certification in good standing with NCOEMS

  • Associates degree
  • 5+ years’ experience in the field as paramedic

Responsibilities

  • Maintains patient confidentiality
  • Work within Paramedic scope of practice
  • Performs telephone triage as needed
  • Function as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Taking complete, accurate messages from patients and relaying them to appropriate physician
  • Use critical thinking skills in assessing patient needs and planning appropriate follow-up/intervention
  • Documents assessment and interventions thoroughly and concisely
  • Uses computer system efficiently and accurately
  • Provides patient education
  • Performs specialty procedures as trained, as well as assisting M.D. with patients in office to include but is not limited to:
  • IV insertion and hydration therapy
  • Administer oral and IV push medications
  • Administer Breathing treatments
  • Cardiac Monitoring
  • Wound care
  • Assist with Cardiac interventions
  • Orthopedic care to include assessment and splinting
  • Take thorough and accurate intake on patients
  • Specimen Collection and processing
  • Run lab equipment for specimens and quality control
  • Use EMR to document assessment and treatments
  • Always ensure patient safety and wellbeing
  • Work within department protocols
  • work within scope of practice always
  • As assigned by RN, Clinical Coordinator or Medical Provider
