About The Position

Determines the nature and extent of the patient’s condition while trying to ascertain whether the patient has pre-existing medical problems Treats patients with minor injuries on the scene of an accident or at their home before or instead of transporting them to a medical facility Emergency treatments for more complicated problems are carried out under the direction of medical doctors by radio preceding or during transport.

Requirements

Requires certification as an EMT - Paramedic
Must be knowledgeable in anatomy and physiology
Must show proficiency with pharmacology
Must have acceptable oral and written communication skills
Shows ability to work with other allied Health care providers
Is able to work under direction of Emergency Room Charge Nurse while inside the hospital
Works under pressure with minimal supervision
Must have valid Class D driver's license
Must provide evidence of recertification of EMT certification bi-annually
BLS certified
ACLS certified
Must have a copy of a diploma or official transcript of the highest level of education
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
May require successful completion of a physical abilities test.

Responsibilities

Ensures shift operations to include but not limited to coverage of EMS calls, coverage of absent team members, and daily EMS activities.
Maintains EMS supplies and equipment in readiness
Complies with all rules and regulations pertaining to EMS job functions
Follows directions of Emergency Room Physicians
Is able to work under direction of Emergency Room Charge Nurse while inside the hospital
Operates emergency vehicles safely
Shows professionalism at all times
Shows proficiency while performing public relations activities
Acquires CEU’s as per certification level
Demonstrates professional growth through independent study
Demonstrates attendance at continuing education offerings EMS related
