About The Position

The Paramedic role involves providing treatment, such as first aid or life support care, to sick or injured patients. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating direct and indirect clinical care, functioning as a member of an interdisciplinary team, and advocating for patients and their families. Paramedics will utilize evidence-based medical practice to manage emergent situations and treat various injuries and illnesses promptly and professionally. The current staffing is for PRN Paramedics (Days and Nights) for an industrial client in Wilson, NC, requiring reliable commute to the worksite for scheduled shifts.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited paramedic program
  • Minimum of three (3) years of paramedic experience
  • Experience in a clinic setting (urgent care, emergency room, etc.)
  • Occupational Medicine experience required
  • Paramedic Louisiana State Certification
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • CPR/AED
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate.

Nice To Haves

  • Drug and alcohol testing experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Operate ambulance equipment and respond to radio transmissions.
  • Coordinate with the team responding to an emergency.
  • Provide emergency care in basic and advanced life support
  • Respond to accidents and multiple traumas applying the principles of Advanced Trauma Life Support;
  • Assist with minor/routine medical cases when not responding to emergency medical cases as directed by the Physician and Clinical Team Leader.
  • Prepares patients for and safely transports them to the emergency department of a hospital or other healthcare facility.
  • Evaluate the patient’s condition on the scene and perform a preliminary diagnosis; Assessment and documentation will include the patient’s vital signs, chief complaint, medical history and prescribed medications.
  • Assist medical providers with medical procedures and treatments as allowed within licensed scope of work.
  • Attend to injuries or sudden illnesses by applying a variety of pre-hospital simple and advanced treatments (first aid, CPR, administering injections and oxygen, etc.) or surgical procedures.
  • Proactively and independently administer basic care, including but not limited to inserting catheters with blood specimen collection, urine collection and EKG’s, visual acuity, basic wound care, changing bandages or administering intravenous medications.
  • Use tech equipment and tools to stabilize patients or provide immediate treatment.
  • Write and submit accurate reports on incidents.
  • Keep abreast with new treatments and medical procedures through continuous training.
  • Conduct drug and alcohol testing for the site.
