Job Summary Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Paramedic utilizes technical knowledge base to provide patient care as well as cross-trainable technical services for all age groups (neonate, infant, children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric) in cooperation with other members of the health care team. Essential Functions Performs patient care tasks in a safe and competent manner without deviation from the standard of care or hospital policy and procedure. Coordinates care with the RN and other interdisciplinary care to optimize patient outcomes. Demonstrates ability to recognize changes in patient status and report changes to RN immediately. Assist in providing appropriate interventions in a timely manner. Maintains complete and timely documentation that assures accurate reflection of care provided. Provides appropriate communication with multidisciplinary team members, patients and their families. Maintains communication with RN throughout entire shift to ensure accuracy of information and care provided. Promptly responds to patients request for assistance in professional and effective manner. Safely administers medications utilizing the five rights of medication administration. Utilizes Electronic Medical Record (EMR) medication scanning to ensure safe medication administration. Assists in facilitating throughput throughout the department. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards.
