About The Position

Provide basic and advanced life support treatment, care and evaluation of patients. Identify, intervene, and stabilize the ill or injured patient under the direction and in collaboration with a physician and/or Registered Nurse. Initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition and treatment, as appropriate. Provide population specific education to the patient and family about the patient's illness and therapeutic interventions. Inspect, maintain and care for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public. This position follows the academic calendar and aligns with the school schedule—working only on days when school is in session. Hours will vary between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM depending on sport schedules and program needs, and will not follow a fixed daily routine. Shifts can be as short as 3 hours and up to 10 hours. While the role is primarily focused on supporting school sports, there will also be opportunities to work at special events, with hours and days determined by the specific event schedule.

Requirements

  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Emergency Medical Tech specializing in Paramedic credentialed from the Texas Office of EMS-Trauma Systems obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Athletes: Prior experience working with athletes or in an athletic setting is highly recommended. A strong understanding of the unique demands and dynamics of athletic environments is essential.
  • Independence and Accountability: Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and demonstrate sound judgment while adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Field or Event-Based Clinical Experience (Preferred): Experience providing clinical support at events or in field settings is not required but will be considered a strong asset.
  • Pediatric Experience (Preferred): Experience working with children or adolescents is a plus, especially in a clinical or athletic context.
