Requirements

  • Graduated from a Paramedic program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Paramedic license required from the respective state board and/or respective state equivalent.
  • Valid Class E State Drivers License (or comparable state license), or Commercial Drivers License (CDL), and driving record in accordance with facility policy.
  • Commercial Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) (May be completed after hire) or Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC).

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, intervenes, and stabilizes patients during transport, under the direction of the medical director and EMS protocols.
  • Provides direct medical care to patients during transport consistent with established EMS medical protocols and guidelines.
  • Establishes and manages advanced airways via intubation, Laryngeal mask airway (LMA), and/or cricothyrotomy as approved by EMS medical protocols.
  • Responsible to manage during transport, Ventilators, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Left ventricular assist devices (LVAD).
