About The Position

Provide basic and advanced life support treatment, care and evaluation of patients. Identify, intervene, and stabilize the ill or injured patient under the direction and in collaboration with a physician and/or Registered Nurse. Initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition and treatment, as appropriate. Provide population specific education to the patient and family about the patient's illness and therapeutic interventions. Inspect, maintain and care for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public.

Requirements

  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Allow in lieu of Basic Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Allow in lieu of Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Emergency Medical Tech credentialed from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Allow in lieu of Paramedic.
  • Paramedic credentialed from the Illinois Board Of Division of Emergency Medical Services and Highway Safety obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Allow in lieu of Emergency Medical Tech.
  • Drivers License credentialed from the Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles (IL-DMV) preferred.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Drivers License credentialed from the Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles (IL-DMV) preferred.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
