About The Position

Responsible for responding to requests for ALS intervention and for providing emergency medical care in the pre-hospital environment according to Paramedic Protocols and Policies approved by SSHS and the ALS system Medical Director. Performs other duties related to the provision of care and development of the community EMS system. Assists in the Hospital as assigned after appropriate credentialing. Requirements

  • Prior experience as a provider of pre-hospital care in an emergency setting
  • Verification of an acceptable motor vehicle driving record, at time of hire, with annual verification required thereafter.
  • ACLS - EMS
  • BLS - EMS
  • VDL - Valid Drivers License
  • EMT- P - Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic
  • ACLS (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)
  • Emergency Medical Services EMT Paramedic - Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) - Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS)
  • Valid Driver's License - Various

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of the Community Paramedic class and clinical portion.
  • Critical care experience preferred/ALS transfers
  • MA DRIVERS - Massachusetts Drivers License
  • PALS, NRP preferred.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)

Responsibilities

  • Responds to requests for paramedic services from area departments in a timely and safe manner.
  • Completes documentation and records according to department policy.
  • Ensures vehicle and equipment are ready for response at all times.
  • Renders pre-hospital medical care at the paramedic level.
  • Performs assigned duties in the emergency department under the supervision of the ED physicians.
  • Acts as a team leader in dealing with emergency responses.
  • Takes proper care of vehicle and equipment.
  • Pursues new levels in Paramedicine technology and participates in activities which contribute to professional growth and development.
  • Participates in community activities which improve the public's understanding of the EMS system.
