Job Summary: Location: Methodist Fremont Health Hospital Address: 450 E 23rd St. - Fremont, NE This is a casual/PRN position. Casual/PRN employees work on an ‘as needed’ basis to meet the needs of the business. Workdays/hours will often vary from week to week. Must be able to pick up at least 24 hours per month as a requirement of the job. Provides basic emergency medical care and basic life support (BLS) for patients in emergency and non-emergency situations.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Paramedicine required.
  • OR Graduate of an accredited Paramedic training program required.
  • Participate in mandatory in-services and continuing education programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by supervisor.
  • Minimum 1 year of Paramedic experience is preferred.
  • EMS-Paramedic providing service in a hospital or by serving as a volunteer Emergency Medical Service preferred.
  • Current valid Paramedic license required.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • Current American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Current National Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Assist ED staff to obtain vitals/orthostatic vitals, obtain EKGs, and phlebotomy.
  • Actively seek tasks, work well within a team, and be able to effectively communicate to assure that all patient care is done in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Able to start and remove peripheral IVs and IOs as directed.
  • Transport monitored patients to different units within the hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency calls and provide BLS care.
  • Assist in tasks as delegated by RN or provider.
  • Administer CPR, oxygen, and basic wound care.
  • Effectively communicate with all members of the healthcare team.
