About The Position

Located where miles of breathtaking ocean views meet dense coastal forests, Adventist Health Mendocino County has a rich history serving community members on the coast since 1971. We are comprised of a 25-bed critical access hospital and offer a range of services in Fort Bragg. The Mendocino Coast offers a small-town atmosphere and is known for its natural beauty, from the smallest to the tallest redwoods in the world, to glass bottom beaches and the only oceanfront botanical gardens in the United States. With whale watching, fishing, hiking trails and many more outdoor adventures readily available, this coastal region is a place to immerse yourself in its landscape and history. Job Summary: Provides emergency care in the pre-hospital environment. Provides advanced-level medical care including evaluation, treatment and stabilization to the ill and injured. Has a comprehensive knowledge base and is able to diagnose and provide care for a broad range of medical emergencies. Responds to calls for emergency medical assistance, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or bandaging a wound. Assesses a patient's condition and determine a course of treatment. Provides first-aid treatment or life support care to sick or injured patients according to acceptable medical practice standards. This position is represented by UFCW.

Requirements

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
  • Paramedic license in state of practice: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) American Heart Association: Required
  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS OR HS-ACLS OR RQIACLS) certification: Required
  • Valid Driver’s License (DL) and must be at least 21 yrs of age or older: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support): Required
  • California DMV Medical Examiner (DMVME): Required
  • AHA-PALS: Required
  • Certified Ambulance Driver (CAD): Required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • Three years' full time experience in a 911 system: Preferred
  • Emergency Vehicle Operator Certification (EVOC) or equivalent: Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides individualized care plan for patient presentation according to acceptable medical practice standards, issued standing orders, on-line medical control and department policies and procedures.
  • Provides emergency care in the pre-hospital environment.
  • Provides fundamental components of patient comfort, safety, privacy and respect within the perioperative setting.
  • Identifies and develops areas of expertise within the surgical specialties.
  • Conducts emergency medical classes as requested by department manager.
  • Administers oral and intravenous medications.
  • Intubates patients or performs surgical airway insertion (cricothyrotomy), and place catheters for venous access such as central venous lines.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
