Requirements

  • NREMT-P (Paramedic)
  • LP (Licensed Paramedic)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 30 days of hire
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 60 days of hire
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 60 days of hire
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal/written).

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of 911 EMS experience and 2 years of experience as a 911 EMS paramedic

Responsibilities

  • Administers a variety of patient care tasks and special procedures utilizing unique skills/training in which competency has been demonstrated and documented in accordance with the National EMS Scope of Practice, Medical Director approval and hospital policy.
  • Assists with patient safety issues such as presence of identification arm band, adherence to patient fall protocol and use of restraints.
  • Operates a variety of equipment requiring knowledge, skills, training unique to critical care patients.
  • Performs various procedures to include but not limited to triage, peripheral IV starts, phlebotomy, EKG, specimen collection, obtaining vital signs, cardiac monitoring, splinting, transporting patients within the hospital, reports/documents to nursing staff all information relevant to patient condition. May retrieve and transport medications.
  • Administer ACLS Medication and protocol under the direction of the Physician, administers patient medication per policy.
  • Maintains unit to include daily cleaning of carriers with disinfectant, daily cleaning/stocking of exam rooms and emptying/ stocking linens as needed throughout the shift.
