About The Position

The Paramedic provides care for patients during inter-facility transfers and 911 calls with the scope of practice for each level of (A) EMT- (Advanced, Critical Care, or Paramedic). This position is part-time, located at 66 Park St, Elizabethtown, NY 12932, and requires variable hours, typically around 24 hours per week, with weekend needs every other week. The pay rate ranges from $23.57 to $35.35 per hour.

Requirements

  • Current AEMT card with on-line status.
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Effective communication skills via telephone and radio equipment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and balance up to 125 pounds (250 pounds with assistance).
  • Ability to interpret oral, written, and diagnostic form instructions.
  • Good judgment and ability to remain calm in high-stress situations.
  • Ability to function efficiently without interruption throughout an entire work shift.
  • Ability to calculate weight and volume ratios.
  • Ability to read English language, manuals, and road maps.
  • Ability to accurately discern street signs and addresses.
  • Ability to interview patients, family members, and bystanders.
  • Ability to document relevant information in writing in a prescribed format.
  • Ability to converse in English with coworkers and hospital staff regarding patient status.
  • Good manual dexterity for performing tasks related to patient care.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and crawl on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to withstand varied environmental conditions such as extreme heat, cold, and moisture.
  • Ability to work in low light situations and confined spaces.
  • Ability to work with other providers to make appropriate patient care decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for patients during inter-facility transfers and 911 calls.
  • Demonstrate competency in all EMT-B skills and equipment usage.
  • Provide Advanced Life Support using AEMT-Intermediate skills and equipment.
  • Administer appropriate medications.
