About The Position

The Paramedic is responsible for providing timely and efficient pre-hospital advanced, intermediate, and basic life support care and transportation for the sick and injured, adhering to local, state, national, and Acadian Ambulance standards. This role involves conducting patient assessments, administering medical care, ensuring safe transport, and maintaining equipment and documentation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • National and/or State certification as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic.
  • Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate professionally and effectively.
  • Knowledge of company protocols, operational procedures, and safety policies.
  • Ability to drive large vehicles in normal and adverse conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional certifications such as NALS, PALS, PHTLS, PEEP, and Instructor certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts careful examinations of patients for signs and symptoms of illness/injury.
  • Administers basic, intermediate, and advanced life support care within licensure limits and approved protocols.
  • Handles patients safely to and from the ambulance.
  • Transports patients safely to medical facilities.
  • Transfers patient care information to receiving personnel at the destination.
  • Documents all aspects of patient condition and treatment on EMS run reports.
  • Conducts regular unit inventory and equipment testing.
  • Responsible for placing the ambulance and equipment back in service after transport.
  • Maintains knowledge of ambulance equipment and its proper use.
  • Documents and reports needed repairs to maintenance departments and supervisors.
  • Operates/drives the ambulance safely and efficiently, following company guidelines.
  • Attends mandatory meetings and completes assigned station duties.
  • Orders supplies and equipment to replenish inventories as needed.
  • Completes assigned ambulance cleaning duties.
  • Completes all required company reports and logs.
  • Trains new employees and precepts EMT-Basic, Intermediate, and Paramedic students as directed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
