Requirements

  • High School level or equivalent of education, on-going continuing education required.
  • Minimum of six months experience preferred.
  • Current State of Colorado EMT-P certification.
  • Valid Colorado driver's license and excellent driving record.
  • Required certifications: Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP (NRP required 6 months after hire if not current at time of hire).
  • Colorado State Critical Care Paramedic Endorsement, and BTLS, PHTLS, CPR Instructor certifications are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to 911 calls and requests for inter-facility transfers; performs emergency care and Advanced Life Support in pre-hospital settings.
  • Ensures personal safety and that of other emergency personnel and patients on the scene.
  • Assists with community education, staff continuing education, and/or other EMS related educational functions.
  • Performs non-patient related duties such as assisting with office functions, quality assurance, and basic vehicle maintenance.
  • Reports for assigned duty shift in a timely manner and participates in shift change communication.
  • Inventories vehicle to ensure all equipment is operational and adequate supplies are present.
  • Receives calls from dispatch and responds verbally to the dispatch center.
  • Communicates with partner, reads maps, runs GPS, and drives ambulance to the scene.
  • Determines nature and extent of illness or injury and performs differential diagnosis.
  • Communicates patient condition and treatment to receiving medical facility.
  • Participates in committees as assigned.
  • Performs in accordance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulatory agency standards.
