St. Petersburg Fire Rescue (SPFR) is recognized as an ISO 1 and CFAI accredited agency and by local businesses, residents, and other fire rescue agencies as a progressive, well trained, and customer-centered fire rescue organization, which places a high premium on quality service. SPFR maintains certified civilian Paramedic (non-Firefighter) positions to staff Peak-Time non-transport Medic Units. The department uses sworn Firefighter/Paramedics to staff all 24/48 EMS unit positions. The department recognizes that developing customer focus is an absolute necessity and the workforce culture reflects a respectful team atmosphere that is nurtured by fair practices, open communication processes and up-to-date procedures that guide the decisions of our personnel. Our mission will be accomplished by a physically fit, healthy, and increasingly diverse work force, well trained in a multitude of specialized skills, and empowered with a high level of involvement in our success. SPFR is a contract provider for the Pinellas County EMS system. As such, SPFR provides Advanced Life Support (ALS) first response with up to 27 ALS units throughout the City. SPFR's primary EMS role is the initial response, triage, and treatment of patients experiencing medical emergencies. Patient transport is handled by a third-party service. SPFR also provides EMS coverage for hundreds of special community events throughout the year. This position works 12-hour shifts assigned to an alternating 2/3/2 schedule - 2 days on, 3 days off, 2 days on (week 1) || 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off (week 2).
