About The Position

As a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services, you will support plasma center operations and report to the Plasma Center Manager. Your role will involve determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. You will work under the guidance of the Center Manager and the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. Familiarity with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment is essential. You will also provide support for environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, including a recognized educational nursing program.
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
  • Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, and blood testing.
  • Evaluate donor reactions and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies.
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical or technical issues.
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Manage employee incidents and determine the need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER.
  • Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS.
