About The Position

The Paramedic Instructor is a 12-month faculty position responsible for assisting in the planning, coordination, management, and evaluation of the department's activities in accordance with the NWCC and MCCB guidelines. This role reports to the Director of Emergency Technology and the Dean of Health Sciences.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree
  • Valid work experience in the area of instruction
  • Minimum of two years of work experience in the area of instruction in the last 5 years
  • Must hold and maintain a valid EMT/Paramedic certification
  • Obtain and maintain accreditation requirements for the program
  • Administrative and communication skills required
  • Unencumbered current license to practice in Mississippi
  • Acceptable criminal history background check
  • Leadership, management, and/or administrative experience in the discipline of emergency medical services
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, managing, and evaluating the activities of the department in accordance with the NWCC and MCCB guidelines.
  • Participate in curriculum development, review, and revision.
  • Assist in the admission and selection process to ensure it is fair and transparent.
  • Implement strategies for valid reliable testing and student success.
  • Actively pursue measures to seek full program accreditation.
  • Plan class schedules for the department and enter them into Campus Key for each term.
  • Review and revise the policies and procedures of the department in accordance with the policies and procedures of the School of Health Sciences.
  • Update the NWCC Bulletin, Emergency Medical Services Program website, Emergency Medical Services Program brochure, and any other publication.
  • Calculate reports and monitor program outcomes such as pass rate, employer satisfaction, graduate satisfaction, and employment rates.
  • Coordinate recruiting for the Emergency Medical Services Program in cooperation with NW recruiters.
  • Attend high school career activities for recruiting when requested.
  • Provide academic advisement for Emergency Medical Services Program students.
  • Deliver course instruction and plan evaluative measures.
  • Initiate and/or review contracts between healthcare institutions.
  • Communicate effectively with the administration of health care institutions, community groups, and state, regional, and national agencies.
  • Contribute to the department budget and monitor expenditures to ensure the department stays within budget.
  • Contribute to all textbook selections made.
  • Participate in NWCC committees as assigned.
  • Act decisively and with fairness when dealing with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Assume other duties as assigned by the Director of Emergency Medical Technology and the Dean for Health Sciences.
