About The Position

This is responsible work involving the protection of life through the performance of emergency medical services, providing basic and advanced life support to patients. An employee in this class is responsible for working as an emergency medical team member.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of emergency medical coursework at the Paramedic level; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
• Valid driver's license from state of residence.
• Valid Florida Paramedic Certification.
• AHA CPR Certification.
• AHA ACLS Certification.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and manages life threatening emergencies by initiating basic and advanced life support while following protocols and physician orders.
• Initiates and assists Medical Staff in patient treatment to acutely ill or traumatized patients, utilizing both invasive and non-invasive techniques and initial protocol treatment based on patient condition.
• Establishes rapport with the patient and others to decrease incident stress by remaining calm and communicating medical conditions with patients and medical staff.
• Prepares patient care reports, which involves documenting medical conditions and activities applied to patients.
• Records patient care data and information obtaining demographic data from patients, medical conditions and/or illnesses, and current prescription use as well as documents patient reactions to treatment.
• Secures and disposes of biohazard waste.
• Assesses patient response to treatment.
• Attends continuing education and other programs to maintain clinical knowledge and certification requirements.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as needed.
