About The Position

The position involves following employee and patient safety practices, including utilizing approved methods and devices in the lifting, moving, and transfer of patients 100 percent of the time to assure no injuries to patients, self, coworkers, families, or other professionals. The role requires adherence to clinical care standards, serving as the attendant in charge on ALS or BLS ambulance transports, and providing clinical care to acutely ill or injured patients that meets or exceeds standards of care. Responsibilities also include effective communication with management, physicians, nurses, and fellow employees, managing the care and transfer of emergent patients, and serving as a mentor to new and current employees. Daily operations include completing vehicle check-off forms, maintaining vehicle readiness, and managing inventory control. The position emphasizes patient satisfaction and ongoing professional development, including maintaining required certifications and completing continuing education classes.

Requirements

  • 2 years in Healthcare/Medical experience.
  • Paramedic Certification for primary state required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved required.
  • Current state EMS certification for primary state of assignment (EMT - basic or equivalent) certification required.
  • EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operators Certificate) is required and will be provided during orientation.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) course completion or approved equivalent required.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) course completion or approved equivalent required within six months of employment.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Basic level ability navigating in Microsoft Windows and ability to accurately gather and enter data into an electronic medical record.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes approved methods and devices in the lifting, moving, and transfer of patients 100 percent of the time.
  • Follows hand washing procedure 100 percent of the time.
  • Serves as the attendant in charge on ALS or BLS ambulance transports as appropriate.
  • Provides clinical care to the acutely ill or injured patient that meets or exceeds standards of care.
  • Adheres to clinical documentation standards and protocols 100 percent of the time.
  • Demonstrates leadership and coaching skills when interacting with fellow employees.
  • Communicates effectively and appropriately with management, physicians, nurses, and fellow employees.
  • Manages the care and transfer of emergent patients to minimize avoidable delays.
  • Completes all required vehicle check-off forms and identifies critical deficiencies.
  • Returns vehicle to a complete state of readiness at the conclusion of assigned shift.
  • Completes all required clinical and billing documentation prior to departing from shift.
  • Meets or exceeds station goals for patient satisfaction.
  • Maintains all required certifications without need for specially scheduled classes.
  • Completes continuing education classes on an ongoing basis.
