About The Position

Join our dynamic Event Medicine Program, part of a leading hospital system, as a Sports and Event Medicine Professional. This position is primarily focused on providing medical support at local Independent School District (ISD) athletic practices and games, offering the opportunity to work with students and student-athletes. The position provides critical care and triage in a variety of sports settings, ensuring student safety during their athletic activities. In addition to the ISD coverage, there may be opportunities to pick up additional shifts at other events, such as horse shows, music festivals, baseball games, and car racing events, depending on availability. You will work primarily Monday through Friday from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, but flexibility is required for scheduling.

Requirements

  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • One or more of the following required: Emergency Medical Tech specializing in Paramedic credentialed from the Texas Office of EMS-Trauma Systems or Paramedic credentialed from the Texas Office of EMS-Trauma Systems.
  • Drivers License preferred.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as an EMT, Paramedic, or similar license required.
  • Experience in sports medicine or a strong interest in learning more about the field is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, remain calm under pressure, and think quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with student-athletes, coaches, parents, and other medical staff.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about common athletic injuries, treatment protocols, and sports medicine practices.
  • Independence and Accountability: Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and demonstrate sound judgment while adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Field or Event-Based Clinical Experience (Preferred): Experience providing clinical support at events or in field settings is not required but will be considered a strong asset.
  • Pediatric Experience (Preferred): Experience working with children or adolescents is a plus, especially in a clinical or athletic context.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic and advanced life support treatment, care and evaluation of patients.
  • Identify, intervene, and stabilize the ill or injured patient under the direction and in collaboration with a physician and/or Registered Nurse.
  • Initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition and treatment, as appropriate.
  • Provide population specific education to the patient and family about the patient's illness and therapeutic interventions.
  • Inspect, maintain and care for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public.
