As a Paramedic, you will provide immediate medical treatment to patients presenting with various critical injuries, illnesses and concerns. In this role, fast thinking and processing are essential, as every second counts in an emergency. Your tireless efforts help improve outcomes and make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, their families and your fellow caregivers. A caregiver in this position works varying shifts, which include 7:00AM – 7:00PM, 9:00AM – 9:00PM, 11:00AM – 11:00PM or 7:00PM – 7:00AM.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic training program
  • Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross upon hire or within one year of start date in the Emergency Department
  • Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic training program

Nice To Haves

  • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
  • One year of experience as an EMT-P

Responsibilities

  • Provide duties that assist in providing patient care in the Emergency Department under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Obtain and record vital signs.
  • Perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy and oral, nasal and ET suctioning.
  • Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy and saline locks.
  • Notify the RN and/or physician of rhythm changes.
  • Apply orthopaedic appliances and simple splints.
  • Size crutches and teach crutch walking.
  • Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, LP, etc.
  • Assist with restraint and seclusion of patients and apply restraint devices.
  • Transport patients and specimens.
  • Assist with sterile procedures and cleaning and maintaining supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect patient privacy.
  • Perform fluid/drug administration.
