About The Position

Overview Piedmont Henry Emergency Department 75000-90000 visits per year Licensed for 59 beds 3/4:1 Patient to RN Ratio Level III trauma center Triage and Assessment of patient complaint Medical screening exam by a qualified medical provider and treatment plan based on assessment Appropriate Drug Therapy Management of critically ill patients Patient discharge education Fully Accredited Stroke Center Recently added 18 bed Cardiac Observation Unit that works closely with ED Multidisciplinary team in the ED includes: ED MD, ED APP, ED RN, C-RN, Flow Coordinator, Unit Based Educator, RN, ED Paramedics, Patient Care Technicians, Radiology staff, Respiratory staff, Patient Experience and Patient Access. Responsibilities The Paramedic, under the supervision of the Professional Registered Nurse and/or Physician is responsible for facilitating age-appropriate, culturally and ethnically sensitive care, maintaining a safe environment, educating patients and their families, collecting information, communicating effectively, and utilizing technology. The Paramedic participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of health care services and task. The role of the Paramedic Nurse Extender also, includes patient advocacy, teaching, performance improvement, and the oversight of unlicensed personnel.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
  • 1 year of experience as a Paramedic Preferred
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support BLS Certification Upon Hire Required
  • ACLS Upon Hire Required
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Paramedics new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date within 120 Days Required

Nice To Haves

  • LP - Licensed Paramedic Current certification as a Paramedic in the State of Georgia and National Registry Preferred
