Requirements

  • EMT – P Required
  • BLS, PALS and ACLS Required

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients to Advent Health Central Texas Emergency Department
  • Check-in patients to Emergency Department
  • Set up Palm Scanning
  • Complete registration process (gather patient insurance and demographics) as needed
  • Perform, properly document and report all procedures in accordance with departmental and hospital policy
  • Recognize potential emergency/life threatening situations and notify Nurse Leader or ED Provider
  • Demonstrate skill and judgement necessary to implement physician’s orders, procedures and protocols of care, and provide quality patient care
  • Remain flexible to changing systems, demonstrating quality and effectiveness in work habits and treating staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect
  • Understand computer downtime procedures
  • Understand the Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) process and proficiently use the electronic medical record (EMR) for retrieval of patient information
  • Perform safe patient care by utilizing the PPID processes
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and protect patient’s health information
  • Maintain a cooperative relationship among health care teams by effectively communicating information, responding to requests, building rapport, participating in team problem solving methods
  • Have knowledge of and understand current TJC Standards for the clinical aspect of the department
  • Advocate for the patients and promote healthy teamwork with the multidisciplinary team
  • Be proactive in efforts to facilitate patient flow through the ED
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with policies and procedures
  • Maintain licensure, skills and education required to work in the ED
  • Positively support Performance Improvement (PI) in the ED
  • Attend mandatory scheduled staff meetings
  • Attend mandatory trainings/in-services/skills labs/education opportunities
  • Participate in providing patient specific care standards as directed, and follow service excellence standards to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction
  • Report suspected abuse to Nurse Leader
  • Perform treatments and general patient care within scope of practice and under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the Emergency Department
