Requirements

  • 2 years of prior hospital and/or EMS experience preferred.
  • EKG and phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Paramedic certification required.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification is required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • High School Graduate / GED.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supportive care to the Emergency Department patients under the direct supervision of the registered nurse or physician.
  • Perform approved procedures.
  • Take, document, and report vital signs. Report abnormal results immediately to registered nurse.
  • Take height and weight measurements.
  • Place ECG electrodes and attach ECG monitor correctly and perform EKGs.
  • Assist with setting up oxygen per instructions.
