A Brief Overview Provides high quality, individualized, family centered care to pediatric patients ranging from extreme prematurity through adolescence in the critical care transport environment. Care and transport of the critically ill patient is supported through the use of the Paramedic scope of practice in accordance with the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) standards and hospital policies and procedures. Varied schedules to include weekend and holiday patterns.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Paramedic Program Required
  • Minimum 3 years of ALS experience as a Paramedic Required
  • PARAMEDIC - Paramedic – Licensed current and valid in the state of Nebraska Required
  • National Registry Paramedic Required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association Required
  • ACLS Upon Hire Required
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation within 120 Days Required
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Upon Hire Required
  • STABLE Course within 180 Days Required
  • Pediatric Advanced Transport Course (PATC) within 1 Year Required
  • Specialty Certification within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
  • Must have valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record Upon Hire Required
  • Completed and passed the Certified Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (CEVO) or Emergency Vehicle Operator course (EVOC) within 30 Days Required
  • Due to the aircraft the Organization utilizes for both rotary and fixed wing, all Transport applicants must be 225 lbs or under at time of hire. Upon Hire Required
  • Must be able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure and be able to perform under stressful conditions when confronted with multiple requests, demonstrating prioritizing skills
  • Must be able to work in an environment which includes the use of ambulance, helicopter, and airplane patient transport vehicles that results in exposure to non-conventional motions, noise, vibration, fumes and extreme heat/cold.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a Critical Care Paramedic program Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Emergency Medical Services or related health care field Preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with pediatric patients Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conducts individualized age-specific patient/family assessments according to defined paramedic standards, or protocols.
  • Provides safe driving of the ambulance according to the Standards of the US Department of Transportation, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and EMS National Standards.
  • Demonstrates responsiveness to the organizational functions of the transport process.
  • Develops individualized patient/family plan of care using evidence-based treatment orders to meet identified needs.
  • Implements and evaluates actions in accordance with the individualized patient/family plan of care and patient condition/needs.
  • Documentation reflects accurate assessment/evaluation, modification, and patients response to therapy, changes in condition, and therapeutic interventions/procedures.
  • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.
