About The Position

The position involves responding to ambulance calls and providing advanced patient care. The individual will direct care and provide guidance at the scene, perform vehicle maintenance, and assist in the Emergency Room. Responsibilities include conducting initial and ongoing assessments to gather data relevant to each patient's needs, identifying patient care needs, following protocols, evaluating treatment outcomes, and communicating relevant patient information. The role also involves transporting sick or injured persons to the hospital or convalescents to their destination while avoiding sudden motions detrimental to patients. Additionally, the individual will perform vehicle maintenance, check and maintain all equipment within the rig, assist in audits and other clinical areas as needed, and participate in public relations and educational activities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Iowa Paramedic Course or National Paramedic Course.
  • Certified Iowa Paramedic or RN Exemption.
  • Valid IA Class C driver's license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
  • BLS provider, ACLS, PALS, Mandatory Reporter certification.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire.
  • Intermediate language skills, intermediate math skills, high reasoning ability.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people and convey a positive image.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Must pass pre-hire physical agility test.
