About The Position

The position is for a full-time paramedic at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in the Critical Care: Emergency Room department. The role involves working night shifts from 1930 to 0745, with every other weekend and holiday requirements. The pay range for this position is between $23.65 and $35.50 per hour. The paramedic will provide patient/family centered care, focusing on various needs including physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and environmental aspects. Responsibilities include rapid evaluation of life-threatening emergencies, collaboration with the healthcare team, and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment. The paramedic will also utilize technology to enhance patient safety, communicate effectively, and act as a patient advocate throughout the continuum of care.

Requirements

• Paramedic certification from an accredited certified paramedic program or an Associate's of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in paramedic studies.
• Three years of Emergency Service experience preferred.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
• Applicable state-OEMS certification as EMT-P required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required within one year in select areas.
• Critical care certificate or national registry paramedic preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient/family centered care focusing on physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.
• Rapid evaluation of life-threatening emergencies and implementation of prescribed therapies within scope of practice.
• Collaboration with nursing and medical team to establish treatment goals.
• Maintains a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment.
• Utilizes and promotes the use of technology and equipment to enhance safety.
• Communicates effectively to promote sharing of information throughout the continuum of care.
• Participates in shared governance and adheres to standards of care.
• Acts as a patient advocate throughout the continuum of care.
• Identifies clinical priorities and initiates action to improve patient outcomes.
• Documents medication and treatment rendered in the Electronic Medical Record.
• Facilitates optimal patient flow through the Emergency Department.
