Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least five years of experience as a litigation paralegal at a law firm with significant and progressive responsibility in commercial litigation
  • Sound judgment, excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, efficiently multi-task, and produce a high-end work product
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and a proactive, practical, and creative problem-solving approach
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and LexisNexis
  • Proven ability to work in a demanding environment, both independently and as part of a team, with a hands-on attitude and a willingness to get things done
  • Ability to work in our Centreville, VA office a minimum of four days a week

Nice To Haves

  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program
  • Notary public certification
  • Experience e-filing on PACER/ECF

Responsibilities

  • Research and prepare responses to third-party subpoenas and prelitigation disputes
  • Provide comprehensive support across all stages of litigation and case management, including initial investigations, tracking deadlines, drafting correspondence, preparing case materials, managing litigation holds, discovery responses, and preparing for depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials
  • Proofread and cite check legal filings
  • Conduct legal and online research
  • Manage and track internal and external requests and correspondence to the Legal Team, including processing incoming email, mail, and packages
  • Organize and maintain Legal Team files
  • Support special projects, as needed
