About The Position

The Paralegal (based out of our Rochester, NY office) will support attorneys in the Banking and Financial Services practice group with commercial real estate transactions by performing a variety of tasks including legal research, document preparation, case management, and administrative duties. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of legal procedures and terminology. Uphold the firm’s reputation as the premier source for sophisticated legal counsel by delivering superior outcomes, service, and value to every client and matter. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a paralegal or in a legal support role.
  • Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field.
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships while work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of professional and support staff.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of organizational workflow and processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Ability to act with integrity and professionalism, and to maintain confidentiality.
  • Willingness to take initiative, be flexible, and demonstrate resiliency.

Nice To Haves

  • Real Estate and/or Banking experience strongly preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Relevant Paralegal certification (i.e. ACEBS) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintaining and organizing deal files.
  • Review corporate organizational documents.
  • Analyze title documents, real estate documents and ALTA surveys.
  • Review and summarize loan documents and construction related contracts.
  • Draft and revise loan documents.
  • Assist with closing commercial real estate transactions.
  • interact with clients and maintain client confidentiality.
  • Additional responsibilities specific to your assigned practice group may be required.
