Requirements

  • Have 3-5 years of experience supporting transactional attorneys as a paralegal or legal assistant either at a law firm or an in-house corporate legal department (in-house experience is a plus)—familiarity with leases and other real estate-related agreements is a plus.
  • Have a BA/BS degree; Paralegal degree preferred.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and excellent, technical writing skills.
  • Be extremely accurate and detail-oriented.
  • Have a strong work ethic and a high-level of organization.
  • Be proactive and able to identify issues, legal risks, and potential liabilities, and to report these matters timely to the correct member(s) of the legal team.
  • Be able to prioritize and manage multiple project tasks within a fast-paced, high growth corporate retail organization.
  • Be able to work cross-functionally with a variety of teams within the company.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (experience with contract/matter management systems is a plus).
  • Be (or be willing to become) a notary/e-notary.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with various in-house legal work, including document review and preparation, including, but not limited to, lease amendments, lease renewals, waivers, and other real estate-related agreements; service of process intake and distribution; matter management; and settlement payment processing.
  • Draft, prepare, and send legal correspondence.
  • Perform general administrative functions, including document signature management, filing/scanning legal documents, and processing/distributing incoming mail (hard copy and e-mail).
  • Support the legal team and assist with ad hoc tasks and special projects.
