The Paralegal is responsible for researching, collecting, reviewing and analyzing data, agreements, assessments and policies for preparation of legal notices, filings, and agreements. The incumbent in this role will work closely with in-house counsel on a variety of different compliance-related legal matters. They will have responsibility to track data, and prepare reports for use by management. How You’ll Make an Impact: Draft and send legal notices to domestic franchisees regarding compliance-related matters, under the direction of counsel. Draft and send agreements to domestic franchisees based upon compliance-related matters, under the direction of counsel. Participate in the development and updating of the operations compliance agenda. Research, review and interpret Franchise Agreements and other franchise-related agreements. Communicate with company personnel regarding contractual rights and obligations and transactional matters, under direction of counsel. Liaise with counsel regarding various legal matters such as preparing letters and supporting documentation, completing filings, and working with third parties as necessary Periodically participate in the development and presentation of training to company personnel. Assist with preparation of transactional documents as needed. Attend regular meetings regarding compliance and other matters. Research other contractual, legal or policy issues, as directed. Plan and arrange travel (flights/hotels) for any out-of-town business travel. Collect receipts for expense reports to timely submit expense reports through the Oracle system following company guidelines. Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or legal certification in related areas. Equivalent work experience may be considered
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working in a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Investigative mind and can demonstrate strong research and analytical skills
  • Evidence of a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated written, oral, and presentation communication skills with the ability to communicate technical legal data to a variety of audiences
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Previous experience in a position handling confidential information
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships
