About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Paralegal to join our dynamic team to support the Department of Justice (DOJ) in Washington, DC. This role will work directly with trial attorneys, investigators, and other staff at the Enforcement and Affirmative Litigation Branch. Working under close supervision, with required assistance readily available, and following standard operating procedures and guidelines, performs the following tasks: Compiles, prepares, and summarizes relevant materials for use by attorneys in discovery and in preparation of motions, briefs, subpoenas and other legal documents. Reviews and summarizes information in prescribed format Maintains case files; performs simple legal research. Review and log/track correspondence Indexes, and tracks document discovery (including documents produced and received in discovery.) Indexes and tracks documents and other materials to be used in depositions and at trial. Prepares document cross-references and helps organize witness/trial binders. Assists attorneys in the courtroom. Reviews documents for relevance according to established guidelines and criteria. Other examples of the types of work to be performed include compilation of documents for production requests, Congressional inquiries, etc. Coordinates with the lab and case teams to upload files and documents to databases and workspaces. Assist with general office tasks such as organizing and sending mail, printing and compiling information for binders, and other administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • Requires Paralegal Certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study. An equivalent level of legal training or experience; or an equivalent level of education may be substituted.
  • At least two years of litigation paralegal experience or project experience (as related to the task order) is required; trial experience very helpful.
  • At least one year of experience in automated litigation support.
  • Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court system, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
  • Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools such as Relativity, and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
  • Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.

  • Willingness to learn and be part of a team.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization.
  • Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
