About The Position

The Paralegal will provide dedicated support to the Senior Associate Counsel and Counsel at the USTA, focusing on legal documentation, litigation support, and project coordination within the Professional Tennis Operations division. This role involves drafting and reviewing legal agreements, managing contract requests, conducting legal research, and providing administrative support to the legal team, particularly during the busy US Open period.

Requirements

  • College Degree required; recent college grads accepted.
  • Some law firm or in-house legal office experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with strong multi-tasking abilities.
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to draft correspondence with proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Ability to conduct research and prepare summaries of findings.
  • Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters discreetly.
  • Ability to manage a high volume workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent command of MS Office (Word, Excel) and Google Business Suite (Gmail, Google Hangouts, Google Sheets).
  • Self-starter with ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks concurrently.

Nice To Haves

  • Notary Public certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review and distribute agreements, licenses, releases and other legal documents for the Professional Tennis Operations division, the US Open, and the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
  • Provide litigation support including document review, collection, and managing legal holds notices.
  • Coordinate various projects through collaboration with multiple business units for key events and initiatives.
  • Track contract requests and maintain communication regarding legal processes with clients.
  • Conduct legal research for designated projects.
  • Process incoming subpoenas or requests for information and prepare formal responses.
  • Track and maintain Continuing Legal Education and attorney registrations for Senior Associate Counsel & Counsel.
  • Provide backup support to the Legal Department Contracts Manager and Pro Tennis Legal Operations Manager, including billing and expense support.
  • Provide Notarial services when requested.
  • Offer light administrative support to the Pro Tennis Legal department.
  • Assist with other special projects and duties as assigned.
