About The Position

The position is designed to provide executive-level paralegal and administrative services for the Office of Legal Affairs (OLA), including support for the Chief Legal Officer/General Counsel (CLO/GC), Director of Legal Services, staff attorneys, legal specialists, and waiver contract manager. The role involves professional legal work in various areas, including legal research, drafting, reviewing, and communicating legal matters related to litigation, transactions, contracts, regulations, and internal and external dispute resolution. The successful applicant will manage complex policies and procedures, assist with board guidelines, and address legal issues from various business units. The position requires handling sensitive and confidential information and performing other duties consistent with an executive-level paralegal. The position reports directly to the Director of Legal Services.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a law-related role with a law firm or law department.
  • Working knowledge of legal database software, e.g., LexisNexis or Westlaw.
  • Extensive knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or higher degree in Legal Studies, Business, Office Administration, Healthcare, or related field.
  • Experience in healthcare, especially public behavioral health and managed Medicaid.
  • Knowledge of LexisAdvance, CounselLink, WestLaw, and e-OAH.
  • Certification as a paralegal or legal assistant, e.g., NCCP.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Partners’ almost 300 Policies and Procedures (P&Ps), ensuring they are regularly reviewed and approved by management and the Board.
  • Provide moderate to complex legal support services, including legal research and assisting with contracts and transactions.
  • Draft, review, proof, and issue communications regarding contracts and litigation.
  • Field and address legal issues and questions from various business units.
  • Attend and assist in key meetings, hearings, and conferences.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the OLA team, including maintaining legal files and records.
  • Coordinate and support functions and events involving Team OLA.
  • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to deadlines.
