About The Position

Goodspeed Merrill (GM) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Paralegal to support a thriving and growing Litigation practice. This role involves working in partnership with attorneys to build strong relationships with clients, identify their legal needs, explore their options, and support their representation in various legal matters, including negotiations and document preparation. As a Litigation Paralegal at GM, you will play a vital role by researching and organizing case facts, maintaining legal files, drafting reports, preparing legal documents, and performing other critical tasks that ensure GM clients receive exceptional and cost-effective legal solutions. Candidates should have a proven ability to think critically, analyze problems, and recommend solutions. Being highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively is essential for this role. Completion of a professional certification program is desirable but not mandatory, and 5+ years of relevant experience is preferred. The successful candidate will be familiar with standard legal concepts, practices, and procedures required to support a broad range of legal services. The candidate will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals with a certain degree of creativity and latitude while performing a variety of tasks under the general supervision of attorneys and/or the Practice Lead.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years' experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant or completion of a paralegal certificate program
  • Experience in working concurrently with multiple attorneys in a practice
  • Experience may substitute for completion of a certification program
  • Knowledge of and experience with both Colorado and Federal court systems and the Rules of Civil Procedure (CRCP/FRCP)
  • Familiarity with and or ability to learn systems necessary for the practice of law (Litify, MS Office, MS Teams, etc)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree and advanced education is a plus
  • County court experience is also desirable

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily activities including documentation of matters in Litify
  • Calendar deadlines, hearings, meetings, and other key dates.
  • Organize and maintain client documents and case files.
  • Assist in preparing legal documents, including disclosures, indexes, and production files, utilizing Bates labeling as needed.
  • Prepare summaries for depositions and other case materials.
  • Communicate regularly with attorneys and staff regarding client matters and work status.
  • Contribute to overall client satisfaction and firm performance goals.
  • Meet billing (utilization) expectations on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Maintain a professional and client-first approach to work.
