Paralegal, Intellectual Property: The Paralegal, Intellectual Property will be an integral part of the legal team with a keen sense of independent judgment in leading and driving timely and scalable support for clearing creative assets across the organization. This position will report to the Counsel, Intellectual Property. While experience in these areas is preferred, we also look for candidates with intellectual curiosity and a demonstrated ability to learn quickly and think proactively to round out areas where a candidate may not have depth of experience. Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant preferred (preferably in a large law firm and/or corporate in-house legal department).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional research, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent word processing and database management skills.
  • Proficient in Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and experience preparing legal documents, presentations and spreadsheets.
  • Strong ability to interact diplomatically and with professional maturity with senior executives, staff and external business partners.
  • Positive, team-oriented, and collaborative attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others in fast paced and dynamic environment, both autonomously and collaboratively.
  • High level of personal integrity and professional ethics; ability to maintain absolute confidentiality, to perform duties with utmost discretion and act with complete integrity.
  • Strong work ethic, client-service orientation, and sound judgment.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, including ability to update and maintain contract forms, track contract negotiation progress and status through contract management system.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • Experience working with contract management systems, highly preferred.
  • Paralegal certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Engage in clearance analysis for the review of creative assets across the organization, including assisting with the drafting of documents required for necessary permissions.
  • Assist with the drafting and reviewing of a myriad of intellectual property-related documents, including but not limited to waivers, location agreements, footage licensing agreements, and more.
  • Interface with internal business partners and external parties to manage approval/clearance processes and manage timing expectations.
  • Support the broader legal team in the drafting and reviewing of operational contracts, NDAs, collateral documents necessary for solicitation of RFP’s, as well as confidential correspondence, memos, contract summaries, reports, and presentations.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on special projects.
  • Serve as a liaison between department heads and the legal team and take lead in identifying internal business needs requiring specialized, non-standard contractual elements.
  • Support on other projects and assignments as may be requested by the Managing Counsel, Intellectual Property and other legal team members, including but not limited to operational contracts, rights protection workstreams, and more.
