About The Position

The Paralegal in Training (PIT) is an entry-level legal position designed for individuals with minimal to no prior legal experience who are motivated to build a long-term career in the legal field. Paralegals in Training immediately begin contributing to active client cases while working closely with paralegals, attorneys, and legal leadership. In conjunction with their daily responsibilities, PITs complete a structured 12-week Paralegal Training Program designed to develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies required for advancement into a Paralegal role. This is a full-time position. Team members maintain a schedule of 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Extended hours may be required based on case demands and workload. Training & Advancement Path: Completion of a structured 12-week Paralegal Training Program Ongoing performance evaluations during and after the program Eligibility for promotion into open Paralegal positions based on: 1. Demonstrated performance and competency 2. Successful completion of training modules 3. Interview outcomes with management Advancement is performance-based, not time-based. As a Paralegal in Training, you will add immediate value to client cases while developing foundational legal skills. Post-Initial Training Responsibilities Upon successful completion of initial training, Paralegals in Training will assume expanded case responsibilities while remaining under paralegal supervision. Under supervision - work a caseload of up to 20 cases

Responsibilities

  • Creating initial drafts of demand packages, including summarizing medical treatment and redacting sensitive information
  • Completing Early Policy Limits Demands, Medpay Demands, UIM/UM Demands, and MMI demands within established timelines
  • Entering and retrieving case information from various databases, including County Recorder sites and government insurance portals
  • Performing criminal history and records checks and bureau-specific data entry
  • Preparing outgoing mail, printing and scanning documents, and organizing electronic case materials
  • Assisting paralegals with trial preparation
  • Communicating with paralegals and legal team members to prioritize tasks and provide status updates
  • Participating in required training sessions and successfully applying learned concepts to casework
  • Performing additional responsibilities as assigned to support case progression and team success
  • Schedule depositions (Notice of Deposition)
  • Schedule experts
  • Schedule Independent Medical Exams (IMEs)
  • Draft demands
  • Generate IDS shells
  • Shadow interviews of lay witnesses
  • Prepare binders, Notices of Claim (NOC) packages, subpoenas, and any materials requiring printing
  • Request checks and send related correspondence
  • Submit final subrogation lien requests
  • Follow up on declaration pages and policy documents
  • Search for and download Form 5500 for Protected Health Information (PHI)
