This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations. As part of a passionate and accomplished team of professionals in the Legal and Compliance Department, you will provide focused paralegal support with an emphasis on Labor & Employment matters, litigation support, and non-disclosure agreement negotiation support. You will help manage active legal matters, support discovery and investigations, maintain legal tracking systems, and contribute to continuous improvement of legal processes. This role is based in Renton, Washington or Merritt Island, Florida.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated paralegal experience in a law firm, corporation, or government setting, with a focus on Labor & Employment, litigation support, and/or commercial transactions
  • Proficiency with Lexis or Westlaw for legal research assignments
  • Experience with legal matter management or operations systems (e.g., Legal Tracker, iManage, Atlas, or similar)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Microsoft Teams and SharePoint
  • Proven ability to follow established procedures accurately and proactively disposition incoming matters with appropriate urgency
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to engage effectively with attorneys and business clients at all levels, including senior leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to ask clarifying questions, seek feedback, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

Nice To Haves

  • Paralegal certificate from an American Bar Association (ABA)-accredited program
  • Familiarity with e-discovery platforms such as Everlaw or similar tools (learnable on the job)
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean
  • Familiarity with export control regulations (ITAR/EAR) or U.S. government contracting (FAR/DFAR)
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or Associate's degree in legal services and support

Responsibilities

  • Support Labor & Employment matters, including tracking active matters, dispositioning incoming matters per established procedures, preparing and sending legal holds, and assisting with investigations and pre-dispute communications.
  • Process EEOC claims from intake through resolution, including assisting in drafting position statements and managing correspondence with the EEOC on behalf of the company.
  • Track and manage OSHA and environmental inspection matters that come into the department, ensuring timely follow-up, accurate recordkeeping, and coordination with relevant internal stakeholders and outside counsel.
  • Provide litigation support, including document and deposition discovery, subpoena responses, and coordination with outside counsel.
  • Conduct legal research using Lexis, Westlaw, or similar tools; ask clarifying questions to ensure research is accurate and responsive to the legal team's needs.
  • Support transactional attorneys with day-to-day legal matters, including reviewing, redlining, and coordinating execution of NDAs, commercial contracts, subcontracts, purchase agreements, and related transaction documents.
  • Assist with tracking and managing commercial disputes, claims, and pre-dispute communications in coordination with transactional attorneys.
  • Maintain organized matter files and correspondence related to legal matters, ensuring accurate recordkeeping and timely follow-up on open items.
  • Support due diligence activities related to supplier relationships, including research on regulatory compliance, export control obligations (ITAR/EAR), and government contracting requirements (FAR/DFAR) as they apply to transactional matters.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders in Operations, the Business Units, and Corporate Functions to gather documentation and facilitate legal review of supplier-facing and customer-facing matters.
  • Maintain and update legal matter tracking systems (e.g., LegalTracker, iManage, or similar platforms); identify gaps or inefficiencies in existing workflows and raise improvement suggestions proactively.
  • Schedule meetings, draft correspondence, coordinate document execution, and support day-to-day legal operations.
  • Assist with review and redlining commercial transactions and regulatory documents as needed.
  • Support regulatory, real estate, compliance, and site-specific projects on an as-needed basis.
