The Center for Social Justice is a center based at Loyola University College of Law in New Orleans, Louisiana that provides capital appellate and post-conviction representation to indigent people on Louisiana's death row, as well as juveniles facing sentences of life without parole. CSJ Paralegals provide clerical support to attorneys and teams representing clients in state and federal courts throughout Louisiana, with the assistance of students at Loyola. The position entails extensive and voluminous document analysis, management and tracking, as well as periodic litigation support, primarily at evidentiary hearings in state and federal courts. Strong organizational skills are required. Besides document management, primary tasks include drafting correspondence, records collection, record and transcript summarization, database management, non-legal research and occasional client and witness contact.
