About The Position

This role provides essential support to the Hospital Excess Claims Team, working closely with Claim Consultants to review notices of loss, loss run/bordereau, and other related tasks. The position involves collaborating with multiple departments to gather policyholder/account information, ensuring that all Suits, Claims, and Incidents are processed according to Special Handling Guidelines and Claims Service Agreements. A key aspect of the role is assisting in the review and coding of these items to develop metrics for risk identification and mitigation. The Paralegal will also schedule and help prepare materials for periodic claim reviews with Insureds, maintain a database of pending Suits and Claims, and communicate with both internal and external stakeholders to uphold MedPro’s high service standards. Requirements

  • Proven experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or administrative assistant in a medical malpractice defense firm or legal/risk department.
  • Familiarity with litigation terms and processes.
  • Knowledge of insurance terms and processes.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to put to use in this customer-facing role.
  • Experience in handling highly sensitive and confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Hospital Excess Claims Team.
  • Work with Claim Consultants to assist review of notices of loss, loss run/bordereau review, and other tasks.
  • Work with multiple departments and functions to assist with obtaining policyholder/account information for Claims Consultants..
  • Ensure that submissions of Suits, Claims, and Incidents are handled in accordance with Special Handling Guidelines and/or Claims Service Agreements.
  • Assist in review and coding of Suits, Claims, and Incidents to develop Metrics that assist MedPro and Insureds in identification and mitigation of risks.
  • Schedule and assist in preparation of materials for periodic claim reviews with Insureds.
  • Maintain database of pending Suits, Claims for policyholders/accounts.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders in multiple departments as well as external stakeholders to ensure MedPro’s industry-leading service standards are upheld.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by Manager.
