About The Position

The Houston office of Bradley has an opening for a Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights Paralegal to assist attorneys in a broad range of areas including bankruptcy, loan workouts and restructurings, commercial litigation, real estate and transactional/closing matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with ABA paralegal certification or Associates/Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal studies, preferred
  • 5+ years minimum paralegal experience within a law firm
  • Knowledge and understanding of legal principles and practices
  • Experienced in all areas of paralegal duties
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong time-management skills and ability to multi-task
  • Self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion
  • Willingness to work overtime if needed

Responsibilities

  • Must be well versed in bankruptcy, federal and state court procedures and filing requirements, including e-filing.
  • Assist attorneys to research and follow local court rules.
  • Manage hard copy and electronic case documents.
  • Draft, issue and manage discovery, including organizing, bates stamping and maintaining voluminous document productions.
  • Assist attorneys with motions, hearings and depositions.
  • Cite-check, blue book and Sherardize briefs and legal memoranda.
  • Draft routine court filings with minimal attorney supervision, including motions for relief, bankruptcy proofs of claim, subpoenas, summonses, writs of garnishment, notices of appearance, and pro hac vice admissions.
  • Draft forbearance agreements and other basic loan documents using pre-approved templates.
  • Review and summarize loan documents.
  • Assist attorneys with closing transactions.
  • Order and review public records searches, including title work, UCC and lien searches, and corporate filings.
  • Assist attorneys with foreclosures, including preparing notices and publications.
  • Perform administrative duties, such as calendaring hearings, court and discovery deadlines.
  • Perform basic legal research on Westlaw and Lexis.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
