About The Position

The Herington School District is seeking a Paraeducator for full and part-time positions available in the CKCIE Area Schools, serving students from Pre-K through high school. The primary responsibility of the Paraeducator is to provide assistance in implementing plans and programs related to academic or functional skill attainment for students with disabilities. This includes observing and documenting student progress and behavior, as well as ensuring the safety and welfare of students. The Paraeducator will work on days when students are attending school, which is approximately 170 days per year.

Requirements

• Must enjoy working with special needs students
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must obtain a passing score on the state paraeducator assessment, or have a minimum of 48 college hours, or have a post-secondary degree
• Employment subject to drug screening, physical exam, criminal background check and TB screening

Responsibilities

• Provide support to classroom teachers
• Assist in the instruction of students with disabilities
• Perform other classroom duties as needed
