About The Position

Paraeducators (Paras) work one-on-one with students ages 2-5 years old in The J’s preschool summer camp. Paras help to provide a fun, safe and exciting learning environment and help preschool campers enjoy arts + crafts, playground time, special Friday activities and visits to our beautiful outdoor pool with special Splash Pad for our littlest swimmers. Schedule There are two different positions available May 28-July 31: M-F 8:30am - 1:00pm or M-F 8:30am - 5:00pm About The J The J is committed to creating a diverse environment. Requirements

  • Degree in early childhood education, special education or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum 1-year formal experience working with children with behavioral or special needs
  • High School Diploma plus some college and/or relevant experience will be considered
  • Frequent (2-5 hours per shift) standing, walking, carrying and repetitive motions
  • Occasional (up to 2 hours per shift) sitting, lifting up to 20 pounds, pushing/pulling, climbing and stooping/crouching.

Responsibilities

  • Adapt and provide accommodations for classroom activities under the direction of the teachers.
  • Aid students in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist students requiring support for personal care (diaper changing, potty training, hand washing, etc.)
