This is a 6.5 hour per day, 180 days per year Paraeducator (6.25 hours) and 173-175 days per year Nutrition Service I (0.25 hour) position with benefits at Picnic Point Elementary School. Anticipated start date is as soon as possible. Hours for this position are 8:35 a.m. - 3:35 p.m. The successful candidate must meet qualifications for the Paraeducator and Food Service positions . The candidate will provide Resource room support including small group instruction and push in suport as neeeded. Duties include supervision of students, recess duty, crossing supervision duty and lunchroom assistance to Nutrition Services. Dual MESP/MACP position. Rate of pay for positions: Paraeducator (6.25 hours/day): $29.05 - $39.07/hour Nutrition Service I (0.25 hours/day: $25.33 - $29.14/hour JOB TITLE : Paraeducator JOB CLASSIFICATION: Paraeducator - MESP REPORTS TO: Principal JOB SUMMARY: Assist the teacher with planning, preparation and delivery of a quality instructional program based upon state standards, district curriculum, and effective instruction for students with diverse learning needs. Supervise students at recess, in the cafeteria, library, assistance for students riding the bus, and perform crossing guard duties before and after school. May assist with implementation of special education services for students i.e., IEP goals, medical assistance, physical support and personal care. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist teacher(s) with the daily supervision of students for the purpose of maintaining and providing a safe and positive learning environment. Under the teacher’s direction, administer multiple student tests, collect and maintain diagnostic and test data, update student records, and assess student progress. Assist teacher(s) with monitoring and managing student behavior and progress; share observations with teacher(s) and other professional staff. Assist teacher(s) with implementation of various strategies to address diverse student needs and support individual educational growth and achievement goals. Provide clerical and general classroom assistance for staff, which may include collection and data entry of information, correspondence, copying, filing, and preparation of classroom materials. Administer first aid, medical assistance, physical support and personal care for the purpose of providing appropriate care for ill, medically fragile, and/or disabled children. Provide physical assistance for students with special needs such as feeding, toileting, proper lifting and positioning of students in and out of chairs and with adaptive equipment; assist students with the use specific equipment related to their disability (e.g., materials, assistive technology, visual aids). Track and dispense authorized student medications. Perform crossing guard duties before and after school to supervise and monitor students. Assist with monitoring students in the cafeteria and/or at recess; assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment for student safety and well-being. Participate in meetings and training for the purpose of sharing information, improving the employee skills and knowledge, implementing school initiatives and addressing student needs. Comply with District Policies. Maintain consistent presence at assigned work site and regularly work hours specified. JOB TITLE : Nutrition Service I JOB CLASSIFICATION: Nutrition Services REPORTS TO: Nutrition Services Manager JOB SUMMARY: Perform a variety of duties in the preparation and serving of food for the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs at designated school site(s). PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist with preparation of food items daily and in a timely manner, including school entrees, a la carte items, and special menu items for the purpose of providing nutritious meals and snacks for students. Assist with supervision of student helpers and substitutes. Assist with all functions and duties in the kitchen including receiving, storing, preparing, serving and clean up. Prepare appropriate quantity of food items by reading and interpreting recipes for large quantities, following USDA meal pattern requirements. Assist with preparing daily cash records and comply with all cash handling procedures as trained and outlined in manual. Operate kitchen equipment including slicers, mixers, ovens, and warmers for the purpose of preparing food items and maintaining appropriate food temperatures, following health department rules and regulations. Lift up to 35 pounds in various containers using safe lifting techniques for the purpose of preparing and delivering large quantities of food items to serve students. Assist with daily cleanup of kitchen and service areas including cleaning and proper storage of dishes, food items, and kitchen equipment for the purpose of maintaining sanitary conditions at all times. Practice good safety habits at all times for the purpose of maintaining health and well being of school students and staff. Perform other duties as required or assigned including ordering/purchasing food and supplies, preparing inventory, and storing supplies for the purpose of maintaining an organized, efficient and safe work environment.
