About The Position

The Paraeducator for the LEAD Program at Ellen P. Hubbell School is responsible for assisting in small group and individual pupil instruction under the direction of the special education teacher. This role involves working with both special education and regular students, maintaining discipline, and supporting the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The position requires supervision of students during recess and lunch, as well as assistance with classroom assignments and preparation of instructional materials.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree.
  • Two years of college credit OR hold an associate's (or higher) degree.
  • Successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment which assesses content knowledge in mathematics, reading and writing.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students with instruction under the direction of the special education teacher.
  • Assist teacher in maintaining discipline.
  • Assist teacher with instructional activities.
  • Escort students from room to room.
  • Toileting students is sometimes required.
  • Involves work with both special education and regular students.
  • Assist teaching staff in the implementation of IEP.
  • Supervise students while they are at recess and lunch.
  • Assist students with classroom assignments.
  • Copy materials for instructional purposes.
  • Assist teacher in filing material and preparing all necessary paperwork.
  • Alert teachers to problems that may be observed.
  • May require supporting with toileting of students.
  • PMT required.
