Under general supervision, assists certificated teachers in a special education classroom or with students with severe behavioral, physical, language or learning disabilities. The role involves assisting in training basic academic, social and physical skills necessary to care for individual needs, as well as providing individualized care such as feeding and lifting. The position also includes preparing instructional materials, performing basic clerical support in the classroom, assisting with assessing student progress and tracking academic data, and providing supervision for children outside of the school campus, before school, during recess, at lunchtime, and after school. Additional related duties may be assigned.
