About The Position

Assist special needs for students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a variety of programs. This includes, but is not limited to the following tasks: use of sign language to communicate with student, note taking for student, monitoring support use of DM equipment, orientation of schedule and classroom locations, adaptation of materials to complete assignments, organization of materials, facilitate language acquisition through modeling, questioning and expansion.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Proficient in Conceptually Accurate Signed English (CASE)/Pidgeon Signed English (PSE).
• Criminal background check required for hire.

• Preferred experience in working with children who have Special Needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with classroom learning and/or recreational activities.
• Guide them in their learning expectations, assignments or tasks.
• Perform tutoring with the use of Sign Language to ensure reinforcement of academic concepts, social and behavioral skills.
• Help with organization of classroom materials for student.
• Assist students with adherence to following classroom structures and routines.
• Support behavior plan implementation.
• Facilitate language acquisition through modeling, questioning and expansion through the use of sign language.
• Assist with students with personal hygiene and care.
• Assist with students’ physical problems such as suctioning, trachea, tube feeding, diapering, etc.
• Sanitize, disinfect, and clean learning environment and general work areas of all bodily fluids.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
